Mission

To provide immediate access to safe, affordable trauma-informed childcare for families experiencing the crisis of homelessness to further the mission of the MICAH House to end homelessness by removing the barrier of childcare and a family's ability to become self-sufficient.

The Vision

Through the Florence M. Lakin Child Development Center, MICAH House will help families remove barriers to self-sufficiency by providing affordable access to consistent, high-quality early education and support services to prepare them for success in school and society.

History

In the Summer of 2024, MICAH House opened the Florence M. Lakin Child Development Center, which provides families immediate access to trauma-informed childcare for MICAH House families experiencing homelessness. Serving children ages 6 months to 5 years, the center is reserved for MICAH House children first, and secondly to community members.

Families who have stayed at MICAH House, can continue to keep their children enrolled in the Florence M. Lakin Child Development Center to keep routine, consistency and progress.
